The Dictionary defines crown as the top or highest part of something. Crown symbolizes power, authority, victory, legitimacy, honour and glory, as well as immortality, righteousness and resurrection. In Genesis chapter one, we read that Man was created on the sixth day after the creation of every other thing, something to reflect. Man is the highest point, the summit and crown of God’s creation. Christ is the purpose of creation, and man, being the image of God, is also the purpose of creation. Man is a king and so his kingdom (earth and all in it) was prepared for him; so Man came last to take charge and have authority over all creation.

Genesis 1:26 says, “Let’s make man in our image and likeness.” The Trinity came together to make man. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one God possessing one Divinity. There was a divine consultation before man was created. God, in creating other things said, “let there be….., and it came to pass, but the Trinity deliberated on the creation of Man, showing the dignity of Man.

Psalm 8:4-6 holds thus: when we look at the vast expanse of creation, we wonder how God could be concerned for us who constantly disappoint Him. God created us a little lower than the angels. He considers us highly valuable, we bear the stamp of the Creator. God gave us tremendous authority, to be in charge of the whole creation, this authority comes with great responsibility. Man has dominion over the lower creation. God is the King who reigns over everything, but He allows us to reign over the earth.

Beloved, you are unique and simply irreplaceable. Everyone in the world is created in God’s image, we have the same heavenly Father. Everyone has capacity, talent, ability and responsibility. You have a responsibility to be a steward of the resources under your control, because your Father and Creator has put great things inside of you waiting to be called out, developed and extracted for the benefit of yourself and others. Let us not disappoint our Father by comparing ourselves with others. Each of us are special sons and daughters of the Most High God, don’t look down on yourself because without your direction and control, your society and generation become deficient of the values that you would have added to beautify the world. Your docility is an aberation to creation, seeking for your replacement, if any.

* Do you know the worth the Lord has placed on you?

* Do you realize that the image of God in you has been impaired by sin but not lost?

*Ask God for forgiveness for looking down on yourself.

* Ask God for the grace to appreciate yourself and others, seeing the image of God in our lives.

*Thank God for making you in His image and likeness.

Remember, Oh Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implore thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Oh Mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petition but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.
