TOPIC: YOU ARE THE BRANCHES (JOHN 15:5).
“I am the Vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruits; apart from me you can do nothing” (Jn. 15:5). For us to understand these words of Jesus, let’s look at some important facts about branches.
-It is the tree that holds the branches.
-Every branch is 100 percent daily dependent on the tree for its nutrients and survival.
-Branches struggle for nothing as long as they depend on the tree.
-The leaves of a branch can dry and fall off; that doesn’t imply the branch is dead as long as the branch remains on the tree.
-The good season and the bad season do not matter to a branch as long as it is not cut off from the tree.
-Every branch that remains on the tree bears much fruits in their due season.
-Once a branch is cut off from the tree, it seizes to live.
-The only value left for a branch that is cut off is just to be used as a firewood.
From the above analytical facts, we can come to a deeper understanding of the message Christ is passing to us. Our lives on earth can’t be fruitful as God planned it before our existence without being connected to Christ .
What does it mean to be connected to Christ? It means that we have power to do exploit. Our connection to Christ gives us access to power and wealth. It means we are strong and can get things done. Being connected to Christ brings benefits to us and to the lives of others while doing good work in the world.
It also mean that we have the presence of Christ around us, therefore we are not alone. Christ shares our lives and He’s always there for us. So, if we abide in Christ, we have close relationship daily with Him. Our needs will be His needs and He will be pleased with our prayers.
Again, our connection with Him means that we will live a productive life. When we are connected to Christ, we become productive in our various callings and ministries. The presence of Christ in us wins souls for the kingdom; our businesses and occupations bear much fruits. When a man is connected to the Vine – Christ, he fears nothing because his source is Christ – the Vine (Phil. 4:13; Prov 3:5-6; Isa 41:13).
Beloved brethren in Christ Jesus, a branch cannot produce fruits if it is severed from the Vine, and you cannot be fruitful and fulfill your divine purpose in life apart from Him.
May the Holy Spirit help us to always remain connected to Jesus at all moments and in all situations knowing that our fruitfulness only comes from Him.
*Are you sure you’re connected to Jesus? If yes, are you really bearing fruits?
*Do you know that a branch that doesn’t bear fruits shall be cut off; what kind of fruits are you producing?
*Ask the Lord to get you connected to Himself.
*Ask the precious Holy Spirit to help you remain connected to Christ at all times.
*Lord, help me that I may bear fruits and fulfill my destiny in Jesus name.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implore thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee I come, before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petition but in Thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.
