TOPIC: SERVING A LIVING GOD.
TEXT: MATTHEW 22:32.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the chief purpose why God made us all is for us to know Him, and to love Him, and to “SERVE” Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in heaven. Serving God is the greatest honour and privilege anyone can ever have in this life; it avails the individual with the opportunity to partake in the divine nature, and to discern accurately what the will of God is.

From our anchor scripture, we see the Lord Jesus Christ bearing witness to the truth that the Almighty Father in heaven is not the God of the dead, but of the living, and because of that, He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Although, these faithful patriarchs of old had died a long time ago, but the Lord Jesus still testifies that God is still their Father because He lives forever more, and those who die in Him also lives forever because of Him. The lives of all the faithful men and women of old who died in faith serving God were characterized by dominion and power, and it was restored back to them when the Messiah came, because the God with whom they served and walked with on the earth is the very source of life, and He lives forever more.

Beloved friends in Christ Jesus, there are great benefits we stand to gain as faithful disciples of Jesus for serving the living God. It gives us the opportunity of sharing in the divine nature of the very life of God, which exalts us far above all the forces of darkness of this world, and makes us dominate and reign over all on the earth. We are to take charge of the sphere where the Lord has placed us, be it in the business, career, academics, ministerial or political sphere – we are to dominate because our God is alive.

Brethren, as we faithfully serve the living God in His vineyard, and through our lifestyles in the society, we are to believe that God is alive in us, and He reigns supreme over all things, and has given us the mandate to dominate this world for His greater glory. We are to walk in this consciousness, and also believe that we are seated with Him in the heavenly places, far above principalities and powers (Eph. 2:6). We have been called to reign with the living God through kingdom service, and as such, be in charge over all on the earth. May the Holy Spirit open the eyes of our understanding to know that our GOD is ever alive so that we can serve Him with confidence and dominate our environment for Him.

MEDITATION
• Do you know that you have been raised from death, and are now seated in the heavenly places in Christ?
• Do you also know that faithful service to God opens unto us the heavenly gates of authority and dominion?

PRAYER POINTS
• Father, please give me the heart to continue to serve you more faithful in all things, so that I can continue to walk in power and authority.
• Father, please take far away from me the heart of fear and timidity as I serve you faithfully all the days of my life.

THE MEMORARE
Remember O Most Gracious Virgin Mary. That never was it known, that anyone who fled to Thy protection, implored Thy help or sought Thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto Thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to Thee I come, before Thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petition but in Thy clemency, hear and answer me, Amen.
